| WHAT IS THE DMTA?
Founded in 1938, the Delaware Motor Transport Association,
Inc. (DMTA) was organized to allow trucking companies to do
collectively what they could not do individually within the
State of Delaware. We help to improve the odds for the trucking
industry in terms of legislation, safety rules and regulations,
road design and improvements…virtually anything that
directly or indirectly affects the industry. The American Trucking
Associations (the DMTA’s parent organization) was founded
in 1933, and provides guidance to the leaders of DMTA through
the vast number of lobbyists, legislative and regulatory specialists,
and former industry professionals it employs. While the DMTA
focuses on issues at the State level, the ATA focuses on National
and Federal level issues. Membership in the ATA in not necessary
to become a member of the DMTA.
The DMTA is a group of trucking industry professionals and
industry suppliers dedicated to their careers. The association
is the only formally established trucking industry trade organization
in the State of Delaware. Membership in the DMTA affords you
the opportunity to gain valuable industry information on a
regular basis and to network with others who speak the motor
carrier’s language.
There is strength in numbers! The more members DMTA has, the
stronger and louder the voice will be during those times of
legislative and regulatory battles. Your voice can be heard,
if you are part of Delaware’s Driving Force.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The DMTA was organized to promote the common business interests
of persons engaged in the motor transportation industry; and
is dedicated to effectively representing the concerns of the
trucking industry to members, government and regulatory agencies,
and the general public. We are further pledged to assist companies
of members in managing the impact of change in the trucking
industry and to enhance the professional and economic growth
of its members. Our primary functions are as follows: To work
with the legislature and regulatory agencies to foster, promote
and preserve a strong economic climate in the State of Delaware;
to partner with enforcement agencies to develop and support
safety initiatives that protect the motoring public; to provide
a forum for continuing education through seminars, workshops
and conferences; to disseminate positive industry information
to the press promoting the industry; as well as being available
to our members for personal assistance whenever the need arises. |
